In Reality version 5.4, the default value for the Render Display Output has been changed from DOF_SDR_sRGB to DOF_HDR_LinearWithToneCurve. This change addresses a previously observed conflict where color differences occurred between the Editor and Play modes.
With the new default setting (DOF_HDR_LinearWithToneCurve), the scene's tone is controlled by the ToneMapper within the PostProcess volume.
However, if you prefer to use Reality nodes for scene color correction and tone mapping, we recommend switching the Render Display Output to DOF_HDR_LinearEXR.
This approach bypasses tone mapping effects from the PostProcess volume, thus preventing potential overexposure and loss of detail in bright areas.
Selecting the DOF_HDR_LinearWithToneCurve property does not carry gamma values over the given range. In such a scenario, using the ColorCorrection node may lead to unwanted results.
To overcome this, we recommend selecting DOF_HDR_LinearEXR in your pipeline, which has the full GammaRange without ToneMapper, and then using an additional ColorCorrection node.
Process nodes are special nodes serves as a functional unit responsible for processing data and performing operations on input values to generate desired outputs. To set an example, UE5
node is a process node.
