Introduction to Reality
Reality Engine is a real-time broadcast compositing system that enables real-time visual effects pipelines featuring video I/O, keying, compositing, and rendering in one machine. Reality Engine provides tools to create new storytelling in the broadcasting, media, and cinema industry. Reality Engine uses NVidia Quadro GPUDirect technology for high-performance video I/O to streamline real-time 4K UltraHD workflows.
Tracking Technology and Lens Calibration
Reality Engine supports industry-standard mechanical and optical camera tracking systems. Reality can use the lens calibration data sent by the tracking devices.
Talent Tracking
When Reality Engine acquires the talent tracking data, the engine positions the talent inside the virtual world in the correct position and depth. This technology automatically enables accurate reflections and refractions of talent, so the interaction between the real and physical is achieved. All processes occur in one single machine.
Compositing in 3D space
Reality Engine composite green screen images with graphics in a 3D scene. This technique results in real-time realistic reflections and refractions of the physical objects and the people inside the green screen on top of the graphics. Also, blooming effects and lens flares are composited over the real elements. All the compositing is made in 16-bit floating points for HDR precision.
Real-time Ray Tracing
Reality Engine takes advantage of the latest powerful technologies from the world’s leading companies like Nvidia® RTX® GPU technology to produce high-quality and realistic rendering possible in the industry today. Real-time ray tracing technology brings cinematic-quality rendering capability to live production and provides realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections.
Videowall and Portal Window
Reality Engine can feed your videowalls with high-resolution 3D graphics. By utilizing the camera tracking data, you can convert your video wall into a portal to a virtual environment. Reality Engine System easily connects to the video wall through SDI, HDMI, or display port. Combining a portal window with a ceiling extension, you can have a virtual studio without a green screen.
Nvidia DLSS
Since version 4.26, Reality Engine comes with NVIDIA DLSS support; the technology utilizes deep learning neural network and uses the power of the NVIDIA RTX Tensor Cores to boost frame rates and generate sharp frames that exceed native rendering. DLSS uses deep learning neural network to boost frame rates and generate sharper images.
